The Samish Water District (SWD) is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a member of its three-person Board of Commissioners through November 2023. SWD is a water-sewer district organized under Title 57 RCW. The SWD Board of Commissioners is an elected body that provides strategic guidance and direction to staff related to the stewardship and management of the wastewater utility district. District Commissioners approve/amend the operating and capital budgets, approve contracts, and adopt resolutions.
This opening is as a result of a recent resignation by a Commissioner. The remaining Commissioners will appoint a new Commissioner to fulfill the first two years of the resigning Commissioner’s term. If the appointed Commissioner wishes to remain on the Board after November 2023, he or she will need to run for election. A full term of office is six-years.
Qualified applicants must reside within SWD boundaries and be both a U.S. citizen and a registered voter. Commissioners earn $128 per meeting. The Board typically meets on Tuesday or Thursday beginning at 4:00 pm at the organization’s main office on Nulle Rd. Letters of interest from qualified applicants will be accepted through 5:00 pm on Monday, August 30, 2021. To be considered to serve in this capacity, please provide the following:
a statement about your interest in serving as a Commissioner,
a summary of your qualifications to serve, and
your name, residential address, and phone number.
